Benjamin Kern is a distinguished student board member at Rutgers Hillel, he is an active member of the Reform Jewish community on campus, and is a David Project fellow and intern. He is an exemplary leader in the Jewish community as well as the campus cultural community at large. Through his work with The David Project, this student has taken incredible initiative in his outreach towards diverse communities on campus such as the Center for Latino Arts and Culture, ROTC, Greek life, the Hindu Student Council, and The Catholic Student Association. The David Project’s vision is to build relationships between individual student members of diverse organizations on campus, thereby building coalitions between campus communities. The David Project’s approach promotes open dialogue, mutual understanding, and the sharing of common values and interests and this student embodies these characteristics both in his work and in his personal life. Through his passion and commitment to the State of Israel and to his faith, he has become not only a successful relational advocate at Rutgers but an exceptional social educator as well. He has established strong positive relationships with students of various faiths and backgrounds because of his desire to understand, to be open, and to accept those different than himself.
