Timothy Lee is currently a tutor for students in General, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Previously, he served as a Teaching Intern for the Honors Organic Chemistry courses, and as a chemistry tutor for the Rutgers Learning Center. When writing about his profound love of chemistry he explains his journey of becoming a tutor at Rutgers as a way to “teach and help others see what [he] sees: the beauty of chemistry.” He describes one interaction with a student he was tutoring: “a student did not understand the purpose of the photoelectric effect and the point of calculating the work-function of a metal. I grabbed the calculator that we just used and pointed to the tiny solar cells at the top. This is the purpose; without physics, engineering, and chemistry, we would not have solar-powered calculators.” He takes great pride in inspiring the next generation of scientists and describes his greatest accomplishment as his tutored students’ success.
