Mike Adarkwah
Melissa James is a graduating senior whose experiences on campus have been undergirded by the desire to uphold the legacy of Paul Robeson himself, while supporting marginalized students and excelling academically. As a Paul Robeson Living-Learning Community Peer Mentor, she inspires her mentees to get involved and to explore critical issues pertaining to race, culture, identity and intersectional social justice. As a McNair Scholar, she has presented at the Black Doctoral Network Conference on privatized prisons and their impact on social services for low-income communities. She is also the co-founder of PuBLACations and the Secretary of United Black Council, advocating for her communities and establishing new traditions.
