For their social action projects in the Institute for Women’s Leadership, this award recipient teamed up with another IWL Scholar to explore and raise awareness about issues affecting Native American populations through the production of a 10-episode podcast, “RU Native.” The podcast promoted discussions about the diversity of Native American culture and life. The scholars covered a variety of topics, such as art, historical events, healthcare, and voting rights. Through this work, they formed connections with leaders in academia and indigenous community members across the United States to better understand these topics as two Non-Native individuals. As part of the IWL program, they interned with the Institute for Research on Women. During their spring semester there, they created an alumni network for the undergraduate learning community and were key players in IRW’s first ever crowdfunding campaign. They were noted to have been, “… an excellent worker. They have been creative and dependable, reliable and responsible.”
