This recipient has worked for Student Centers and Activities for three years and from the start, has demonstrated leadership. Whether handling a tense or difficult situation or providing guidance in a mentoring role, they have done so with confidence and aplomb. From handling questions and requests from the Dean’s Office to the smallest student group, they realize the importance of the Student Centers in ensuring that all programs, those within the University community as well those of our non-university partners, are successful. Over the past year, as Project Manager for the Meetings and Events Office, they have shown an evenhandedness and mature demeanor when addressing sensitive issues or holding unpleasant conversations. Their admirable qualities—a calm and reassuring presence—under the most challenging circumstances have earned them the respect of the professional staff. They balance school, work, and personal life in a way that the most seasoned staff cannot always accomplish. Their work ethic has set a fine example for others to emulate. They make themselves available to colleagues, student staff, and clients, and are always alert and eager to answer questions and provide guidance, understanding that work is not always done once the shift has ended. They do all this while maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
