Rachel Maeng Brown participates in SAAC, Riot Squad, RUSA, Unified Sports Special Olympics, NCAA women’s rowing, and volunteers with several programs. As Vice Chair for the Athletic Affairs Committee in Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA), this student has built a network of bridges that has made the entire athletic community closer than it has ever been. She has continued excelling on the Women’s Rowing team as their top Coxswain, and has shown leadership beyond compare. In addition, she has established relationships with the RIOT Squad, and has helped reshape their entire structure. In the process, she was elected to become the Executive of Public Relations, an eboard position on their leadership team. She has also been involved with Athletes in Action which has helped to bridge the gap between the athletic community and students. She is also involved with Unified Sports where she volunteers her time to those with special needs. She is now heading the Block R Committee, which brings together the most influential groups on campus. She has also helped in helping to find solutions for funding mental health and alcohol support services on campus. She has connected the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) with RUSA, which has never been done before. As a result of that, the Block R Committee formed recently due to the success of the bridges between the student body and athletics. She has volunteered much time to those with special needs, and has worked to get student athletes involved in the community.
