This award recipient is the founder of RU Hearts for the Homeless, which is a very unique club on campus. It is the first of its kind to focus on women and children’s homelessness, specifically, instead of the broader homelessness issue. In this way, women and children can receive separate aid by Rutgers students, and different types of attention wherever needed. They have created many events which progressed the helping of this issue in New Brunswick, something that hadn’t been directly done before. This award recipient placed an emphasis on learning in and outside of the club. Outside of the club, they are an ODASIS tutor for organic chemistry, yet in the club, they created Ozanam Family Shelter’s own tutoring and homework club that is run by Rutgers students. Because of this recipient, Rutgers students get the ability to volunteer, and kids who are homelessness have the ability to get help for their academics and their future.
