Rutgers Astronomical Society (RAS) involves uniting those who are fascinated with the vastness of space and who are interested in discussing and observing the cosmos. RAS hosts several activities, including lectures, discussions, journal club nights, and outreach. Its most iconic and regular event (weather permitting) is the weekly observing at the Schommer Observatory atop the Physics & Astronomy building. During special astronomical events, such as eclipses, transits, planetary alignments, or meteor showers, the event can draw as many as 100 visitors. This is truly a unique offering that allows Rutgers to shine as a valued asset to the New Jersey community.
