In every leadership role Lara holds, she exceeds expectations and continues to give back to the Rutgers community. She serves as the only student member on the ScarletWell Task, which is an advisory board with administrators to improve health practices at the university for students, staff, and faculty. During the pandemic, Lara was one of the first members of the COVID campus coalition which worked with other student leaders from campuses across the U.S. to get college students vaccinated. This opportunity led to her hosting a vaccine roundtable with the US Surgeon General of the United States. Also at Rutgers, she created a COVID-19 perceptions survey to facilitate safe transition back to campus after a virtual year and served as an advocate that urged the administration to require boosters upon return of in person classes for spring 2022 semester.
