It is hard to imagine how any other graduate student has had as strong of an impact on for graduate student life at Rutgers as Shawn. His level of commitment and dedication, as well as his willingness to volunteer in unpaid roles is commendable example for all students. While Shawn has been an active leader in his department, serving as a treasurer, for the Chemistry GSO, it has been in his role as the president of the Graduate Student Association (or the GSA) where he has especially shined as a foremost leader of graduate students. The GSA runs a sophisticated operation of providing events and services to the graduate population at Rutgers. With over 75 graduate student organizations that represent over 14,000 students, Shawn has managed to steer the organization during the incredibly challenging years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
