This award recipient has a presence across many fields in the RU Community. This was recognized formally when awarded the “Student-Athlete Achiever Top Performer’” presented by Rutgers and PNC Bank, which seeks to identify individuals excelling “in the classroom, community and in competition.”
Consistent academic performance is an example of their work ethic, as they pursue a double major in Labor & Employment Relations and Communications and maintaining a 4.00 GPA. They have been included in the Dean’s Honor list since their first semester in Spring of 2019. Serving as a student-athlete tutor allows them to aid others on their academic journeys. They are a member of SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) and hold a leadership role within the E-Board as VP of International Student Support. In this role, they have aimed to engage the international community amongst athletes by organizing monthly group meetings and managing the social media platform RU Global Knights. The latest project organized was a co-hosted Inclusiveness Series with a guest speaker addressing their journey of an international student athlete to permanent residency. Their aim is to encourage international students to ask for help if they have a desire to continue their career in the U.S. beyond graduation. They have sought to help others through community service, and currently has completed over 48 hours of service in the 2019-2020 school year, volunteering predominantly with youth reading programs and representing student-athletes at summits. In the wake of the recent pandemic, they have been involved in the RWJBarnabas Health PSAs as an engagement ambassador. In the upcoming 2020 fall semester, they will begin a new role as Peer-Coach Intern within the Career Services department at Rutgers. In addition, within the past semester they have been inducted to the National Society of Leadership and Success.
