This award recipient has served as at the President of GSA (Graduate Student Association) twice. Three years ago, they were elected as President of the GSA, overseeing the steering group and over 72 Graduate Student Officers from multiple disciplines and degree programs, at both masters and doctoral level. The organization represents over 14,000 graduate students. When first elected, they reached out to the Office of Graduate Student Life to find out how to best work together to serve all graduate students. This recipient has balanced academic excellence and being an exceptional, caring voice for all graduate students. The tone and shift to complete collaboration between GSA and Student Affairs, and especially the Dean for Graduate Student Life, has almost entirely been because of the exceptional style of this young scholar and leader. They maintained a 4.0 in one of the most demanding programs at Rutgers, after they did similarly with a Masters at Harvard. They are also a current member of the PLDA, the PreDoctoral Leadership Development Academy, and they also represent graduate students on the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs leadership group.
