Sonal is an exceptional graduate student and has spearheaded a new project area examining Mechan transduction during vascular Ehler’s Danlos syndrome. From Sonal’s efforts and initiative, two external awards have been secured for a total of $135,000 for this research. As someone dedicated to being both an outstanding graduate researcher and an outstanding graduate leader, Sonal has taken the initiative to improve her skills and expertise through voluntary and nominated participation in academic programs, such as bootcamps run by the Institute for Quantitative Biology. Sonal is interviewing senior leaders across the university to understand the challenges confronting higher education. She specifically aims to build a culture of transparency between the university administration and the graduate student community to improve graduate student life on campus. Sonal’s passion and dedication to improving graduate student life have been recognized, and she is now a member of several university committees.
